Vincent Elkaim is a freelance photographer based in Toronto, Canada. He came to photography after earning a degree in Cultural Anthropology and Film Studies at the University of Manitoba in his hometown of Winnipeg.
A graduate of the Photojournalism program at Loyalist College in Ontario, Aaron specializes in editorial photography and has prioritized his personal work focusing on documentary photography with a cultural investment.
He became interested in Judeo-Muslim relations while photographing in Israel in 2007 and over the last year has been focusing on a long-term story following his own roots on the Jewish History of Morocco.
Aaron believes that the greatest photography is open ended; he doesn't believe in a beginning middle or end to a photo story but simply wishes to illuminate it, urging the viewer to ask questions rather than simply providing answers.
His work has been acknowledged internationally garnering awards and recognition at the New York Photo Festival, American Photography 26, PX3 2010, PDN Photo Annual, National Geographic, the News Photographers Association of Canada and the Ontario Arts Council. He is an Eddie Adams Alumni and was recognized as an Emerging Photographer in 2008 by Photolife Magazine.
